Invulnerability (Power)

Also Called

  • Impenetrable Skin/Impervious Skin
  • Imperviousness
  • Indestructibility
  • Invincibility
  • Unharmable

Capabilities

The user is immune to all forms of conventional physical damage, unable to feel physical pain, is immune to bleeding or loss of limb. Death due to old age (as opposed to preemptive death) is seemingly the only cause of death to the user.

Applications

  • Contaminant Immunity
  • Disease Immunity
  • Pain Suppression
  • Thermal Resistance

Techniques

  • Atomicity: to never be physically divided.

Variations

  • Bulletproof Durability: a form of invulnerability that only applies to gunfire.
  • Density Manipulation: increase one's density to make it much harder and more difficult to be harmed.
  • Elasticity: users body simply absorbs attacks.
  • Immutability: the ability to be impervious to all forms of external physical change.
  • Impact Absorption: absorb mechanical and physical impacts.
  • Intangibility: becoming intangible to allow all offensive attacks to phase through.
  • Mobile Invulnerability: a form of invulnerability that only works if the holder of the power is in motion
  • Reactive Invulnerability: a form of Invulnerability that only works if the user is in danger.
  • Regenerative Healing Factor- Heal rapidly from any wound
  • Selective Invulnerability: a form of invulnerability that only works on a certain attack, similar to Evolution.
  • Supernaturally Dense Tissue: users body-tissue is supernaturally dense making them incredibly hardy.
  • Temporary Invincibility: a form of invulnerability that only works for a limited period of time.

Associations

  • Absolute Defense
  • Immobility
  • Immortality
  • Immutability
  • Reflective Immutability
  • Self-Molecular Manipulation

Limitations

  • May be vulnerable to certain conditions, substances or simply have a place that is vulnerable to damage.
  • May become Immobile.
  • Doesn't mean immortality unless otherwise bestowed.
  • May require learning defenses to particular dangers.
  • May be vulnerable to telepathic abilities
  • May only protect external attacks, so internal attacks, such as Internal Rupturing, Dehydration and Deoxygenation, can bypass this ability.

Definition for DC Comics

Definition

Sometimes called "Superhuman Durability", Invulnerability is a term used to describe the ability of some characters to withstand any amount of physical damage, pressure, or harmful force of any kind, causing little if any harm or pain to the individual gifted with this power.

Things like knifes or bullets will not penetrate the skin, and punches or kicks will cause no pain. The skin and exposed areas of the body become resistant to damage, either from the the very cells becoming highly durable, or some kind of physically projected force field that protects the body. The amount of invulnerability can differ between individuals, from being completely invulnerable to any and all forces, to slightly invulnerable to specific things.

Definition

nvulnerability is a power that prevents any object from puncturing the skin. Held only by Baron Samedi, it was used to become a dictator. The power seems to apply not only to skin as when Nathan Petrelli launched Baron into a car, a normal person would have internal organ damage. But Baron appeared unharmed leading to the conclusion that the impenetrable nature of his skin applies to all tissue.
